Purpose of the Activity: The aim of the workshop was to raise awareness about the environmental impact of Ganpati celebrations and encourage eco-friendly alternatives.
Activity: Students gained hands-on experience in creating Eco-friendly Ganesh idols, fostering creativity and environmental consciousness.
Outcome: Ms.Aarti Chaudhary (Corporate Trainer) conducted the workshop. She informed the students about Plaster of Paris (PoP) idols, which is a non-biodegradable material which endangers marine life and the health of our water bodies. Also the dyes and glitter on POP idols are harmful. Eco-friendly ganesh idol made up of Shadu Maati does not pollute natural water sources. She taught the participants how to make Ganapati Idol from Shadu Maati by live demonstration. She created a group of 4-5 participants and trained them to create Ganapati Idol. All participants created an idol by using their creativity and had a joyful learning session. This workshop inspired students to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives and make a positive impact on the environment. Students learned about the importance of using natural and biodegradable materials, reducing pollution and promoting sustainability.

The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) of The S.I.A. College of Higher Education (Autonomous) organized an Orientation Program for DLLE students on 10th October 2025 in the college Auditorium from 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. The session commenced with the arrival of the Guest, Dr. Vithoba Sawant, Field Coordinator, DLLE, University of Mumbai. The Welcome Address was delivered by Ms. Tejal Bagrao, Convenor, DLLE, followed by the lighting of the lamp ceremony by the dignitaries.
Subsequently, Ms. Tejal Bagrao introduced the Chief Guest, after which Ms. Booma Halpeth, Vice Principal, felicitated him.
Dr. Sawant conducted an engaging session on Introduction to DLLE Projects, where he elaborated on various DLLE projects such as Career Project, Environment Education Project, Annapurna Project, and Industry-Oriented Project. The session aimed to create awareness among students about the objectives and benefits of DLLE and to encourage active participation in community-oriented projects.
The program concluded with Concluding Remarks by Ms. Booma Halpeth, Vice Principal, followed by a Vote of Thanks proposed by the comparer.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who expressed keen interest in contributing to the social extension activities of the University through the DLLE projects. The orientation successfully motivated students to take up socially responsible initiatives and strengthened their commitment towards community development.
A total of 21 boys 36 Girls (Total 57 Students) attended the program.

The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) of The S.I.A. College of Higher Education (Autonomous) organized a Second Term Training Program for DLLE students on 8th January 2026. The program was conducted in the College Auditorium from 8.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m.
The training session was led by Dr. Vithoba Sawant, Field Coordinator, DLLE, University of Mumbai, who served as the resource person. Dr. Sawant conducted an informative and engaging session on "UDDAN – The Flight on Extension.” He elaborated on the objectives of extension projects, emphasizing the importance of creating awareness among students about the extension activities undertaken by the University of Mumbai to address various social issues. He also highlighted how participation in extension work provides students with opportunities to enhance their skills and develop social responsibility.
The session aimed to familiarize students with the UDDAN Fest, particularly the various competitions to be conducted under it. Dr. Sawant provided clear and detailed guidance regarding competition rules, participation criteria, and evaluation methods. Additionally, he explained the guidelines for the submission of the final project report, ensuring clarity among students.
The program concluded with concluding remarks by Ms. Tejal Bagrao, followed by a Vote of Thanks proposed by the comparer.
