Student Council Activities 2023-24


Name of the Committee: Student Council

Name of the Event: Celebration of Independence Day

Date: 15th August 2023

Time: 8.00 AM

Venue : College Ground and Auditorium

Purpose of the Activity: To celebrate Independence Day to inculcate the spirit of patriotism among students.

Outcome: Members of Student Council and Teachers along with non – teaching staff attend the flag hosting event. As per the tradition of our college, the Council Formation and Oath taking was also organised on the same day followed by a performance by the students.

The council inaugarated their magazine ‘SC-FANZINE’

Student council decided that this year the theme would be ‘Go Green’. As a first step, they used waste plastic bottles (collected by them) and distributed saplings to all the teachers and dignitaries.

Name of the Event: Ganesh Aarti – Ganesh Chaturthi

Date: 26th September 2023

Time: 9.20 AM to 10.00 AM

Venue : Ground Floor

Purpose of the Activity: To impart cultural significance among the students

Outcome: Ganesh Festival was organised and celebrated by the student members of the Council. They decorated Lord Ganesh Idol and the college premises with lighting, flowers and rangoli. Dhol and procession was arranged by the students and the seniormost faculty took the responsibility of carrying the idol.

All teaching staff, non – teaching staff and students were present for the Ganesh Aarti at 9.20 a.m. After the aarti, prasad was distributed among all.

Name of the Event: Teachers Day Celebration

Date: 5th September, 2023

Time: 11.00 a.m.

Venue : Auditorium

Purpose of the Activity: To Celebrate the Teacher Day

Outcome:
Students Council members distributed personalised letters of appreciation to the teachers and also gifted them with hand made paper rose. They arranged cakes and games for the teachers to enjoy.

Along with the celebration of teachers day, Student council took the initiative ‘NO MOBILE DAY’. The initiative was enthusiastically co-operated by all the students of the college.

Name of the Event: Gharba Workshop

Date: 29th September, 2023 to 1st October, 2023

Time: 12.30 pm to 2.00 pm

Venue : Class rooms

Purpose of the Activity: Culture alignment with the students community and teamwork.

Outcome:
Every year, the members of the council arranges Gharba Workshop, before the dandiya raas celebration. This year also they had arranged it. Students in large groups joined the workshop.

The workshop shows that the council members are democratic and council truly becomes of the students, for the students and by the students.

Name of the Event: Kargil Vijay Diwas

Date: 26th July, 2023

Time: During Lectures.

Venue : Ground Floor

Purpose of the Activity: To bring in the spirit of patriotism and sacrifice

Outcome:

Kargil Vijay Diwas is to remind this generation about the sacrifices of our brave soldiers. The Council members arranged diyas at ground floor and requested all the teachers and students to pay their respects by lighting the diyas.

Name of the Event: Pongal Celebration

Date: 15th January, 2024

Time: During Lectures.

Venue : College Ground

Purpose of the Activity: To connect culture with todays generation

Outcome:

Pongal was celebrated in the college by the Council along with members, teachers, non-teaching staff and students. The celebration started at 11.00 a.m. The students understood the cultural significance of Pongal. They all thoroughly enjoyed the celebration. The Pongal was distributed among all

Name of the Event: Guru Poornima

Date: 3rd July, 2023

Time: During Lectures.

Venue : Class rooms

Purpose of the Activity: To connect culture with todays generation

Outcome:

Students Council celebrated Guru Poornima and paid their respects to their teachers and elders. The council celebrated in a very traditional manner by offering the teachers a coconut, beetle leaves and beetle nut and also did a aarti in their respective class, while they were taking lectures. The students from each class joined in chanting verses for their teachers.

Name of the Event: Sparklers

Date: 20th December, 2023
and 21st December, 2023.

Time: Full day

Venue : Class rooms and college ground

Purpose of the Activity: Sparklers is the annual day of the college

Outcome:

Like every year ‘Sparklers – 2023-24’ was organised by the council. This years theme was ‘Carnival Fest – Step right up to the fun’. Two days, i.e. 20th December, 2023 and 21st December, 2023. An array of events was scheduled and huge number of students participated in the event. This year, a number of events were conducted on the ground, as the theme was CARNIVAL. FREE STYLE DANCE BATTLE, STREET PLAY, MASK MAKING, RAP, BEATBOXING were the events which were conducted in the locality for the first time and this was duly enjoyed by the students.
