Purpose of the Activity : To understand the attitude, interests and motivation of the learners towards entrepreneurship
Outcome: A survey was conducted by the EDC in July-August 2023 to understand the learners’ attitudes and motivation towards entrepreneurship. A Google Form was circulated through WhatsApp groups of students. We received 163 responses from students belonging to various courses with 58.28% of the respondents stating that they would like to be an entrepreneur in the future. 36.81% of survey participants responded as ‘Maybe’.
Through this survey, we gathered several important insights about interest and inclination of the learners towards entrepreneurship, their expectations from EDC, their awareness level about various aspects of business such as finance, etc. Financial independence, being their own boss, creativity and innovation, challenging themselves to achieve their full potential, and following their passion were some of the major reasons given by the students as motivators for becoming entrepreneurs. This survey will help us to arrange expert sessions and facilitate short term and certificate courses on entrepreneurship to meet the needs of the learners.

Name of the Activity:Expert Session on ‘Raising Finance for Business: Government Schemes for Entrepreneurs.’

Purpose of the Activity: To educate the learners about the various Government Schemes for raising finance.
Outcome: An expert session on ‘Raising Finance for Business – Government Schemes for Entrepreneurs’ was organised by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of the college on 24th August, 2023. The resource persons for the session were Mr. Sushil Bagawe, Senior Manager, Bank of Maharashtra and Mr. Prasad Berde, Coordinator, District Industries Centre , Thane.
The resource persons educated the learners about the various Government schemes available for entrepreneurs such as MUDRA yojana, Startup India and Standup India, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programe (PMEGP) and Chief Minister Employment Generation Programe (CMEGP). The students learnt about the applicability and eligibility conditions, subsidy limits and the different technicalities of the above schemes. The learners were encouraged to avail the support and help offered by the Government through various schemes and take up entrepreneurship as a career option.

Name of the event: Entrepreneurship Development: How to Build a Business

Purpose of the Session : The purpose of the session was to inspire students to consider entrepreneurship as a career option and provide them with valuable insights from Mr. Omkar Pol’s entrepreneurial journey.
Outcome: A guest session of the entrepreneur Mr. Omkar Pol was arranged for the students enrolled in the 30 hours Certificate Course on Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Venture Creation. The Certificate Course is conducted in collaboration with University of Mumbai’s Garware Institute of Career Educationa nd Development. Mr. Omkar Pol, founder of Omkarfinserv and Happyfest shared his experience and learnings from his entrepreneurial journey with the students. He motivated the students to take up entrepreneurship as a career option. Sir spoke on the importance of self – belief, self-motivation and perseverance to be a successful entrepreneur. As a businessperson, one needs to adapt to changing circumstances, be persistent and willing to take risks. He encouraged the students to think of various opportunities and come up with innovative solutions. The insights shared by Mr. Pol will undoubtedly guide our students in their entrepreneurial endeavors.

Name of the event: Workshop on Entrepreneurship

Session 1: Grassroots Entrepreneurship

Purpose of the Session : The session was aimed at educating students about the formation and operation of a Mahila Bachat Gat (Women’s Savings Group), its benefits, and the support provided by the government.
Outcome: The resource person for the session was Mrs. Gayatri Boyan, a founder member of the Rajmata Mahila Bachat Gat/Self Help Group. Her practical knowledge and insights into the functioning of such groups provided invaluable learning for the students. Mrs. Gayatri Boyan spoke extensively on how to form and run a Mahila Bachat Gat. She highlighted its benefits, including financial independence, improved decision-making abilities, and increased self-confidence among women. She also discussed the facilities offered by the government to these groups, such as easy access to credit, subsidies, and training programs. She further elaborated on the general rules and regulations governing these groups, emphasizing the importance of regular meetings, proper record-keeping, and transparent financial transactions. The session was highly informative, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of Mahila Bachat Gats and their role in empowering women.

Session 2 & 3: Entrepreneurs in the City
Purpose of the Session:‘Entrepreneurs in the City’, was an unique podcast-style interview that provided an in-depth look into the business journeys and experiences of three successful entrepreneurs. The sessions featured three distinguished speakers – Mr. Nandlal Kothari, the proprietor of Shakti Plywood. Mr. Shaikh Khadarvali Dastagire, the owner of Sahil Enterprises, an industrial hardware firm and Mr. Shritesh Dharan, an alumnus of our college and the founder of 7C Cleaning Services and Khaman Spot Cloud Kitchen.
Outcome: Each speaker shared their unique entrepreneurial journey, shedding light on the challenges they faced, the strategies they employed, and the successes they achieved. They spoke candidly about their experiences, providing valuable insights and practical advice for aspiring entrepreneurs. Mr. Nandlal Kothari shared his journey of establishing Shakti Plywood, highlighting the importance of understanding market dynamics and customer needs. Mr. Shaikh Khadarvali Dastagire discussed his experience in the industrial hardware sector with Sahil Enterprises. He emphasized the importance of quality and reliability and importance of networking in building a successful business. Mr. Shritesh Dharan shared his entrepreneurial journey with 7C Cleaning Services and Khaman Spot Cloud Kitchen. As an alumnus, his story was particularly inspiring for the students, demonstrating the potential for success post-graduation.
‘Entrepreneurs in the City’ session was a resounding success, providing students with a real-world perspective on entrepreneurship. The experiences shared by the speakers will undoubtedly serve as a source of inspiration and guidance for our students and encourage them to explore the exciting world of entrepreneurship.

Name of the event: Certificate Course on Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Venture Creation
Date: 2nd November, 2023.
Venue: The S.I.A College of Higher Education
Purpose of the Session : A 30 hours’ Certificate Course on Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Venture Creation was conducted in collaboration with University of Mumbai’s Garware Institute of Career Education and Development. The short term course commenced on 2nd November, 2023. The 30 hours Certificate Course consisted of modules on Entrepreneurship, Formalities for Setting a Small Business Enterprise, Understanding Ecosystem and MSME and Government Support for Entrepreneurship Development. The faculty for the Certificate program was Mrs. Shubra Naik from UM- GICED. The course attracted a small but enthusiastic batch of 29 students.
Outcome: The 30-hour Certificate Course on Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Venture Creation, empowered participants with hands-on skills and conceptual knowledge on the various aspects of entrepreneurship. Most importantly, the course fostered an entrepreneurial mindset among the students equipping them for successful ventures. We hope the certificate program will equip the learners to fulfill their entrepreneurship aspirations.

Name of the event: Hustlers Entrepreneurship Fest, 2024
Date: 9th February, 2024
Venue: 1st floor, The S.I.A College of Higher Education
Purpose of the Session : The Hustlers Entrereneurship Fest was held on 9th February, 2024 in The S.I.A College of Higher Education. As part of the Certificate Course on Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Venture Creation, the learners were divided into five groups and required to set up stalls in the Hustlers Entrepreneurship Fest, demonstarting the concepts taught in the course. All the five stalls set up by the 26 students (19 girls and 7 boys) were innovative and showcased their business and marketing skills.
Outcome: The fest was open to students and the staff of the college. A total of 266 visitors including 129 males and 139 females attended the fest. All the student groups were able to recover their capital and make a decent profit. Students applied the concepts taught in the certificate course while learning about ideation, product positioning, marketing, branding, customer engagement etc. Hustlers Entrepreneurship Fest was successful in igniting the entreprenurial spirit among the learners.
