Purpose of the Session : The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of our college organized an enlightening expert session on ‘Self Help Groups – Entrepreneurship and Empowerment’ on 3rd December, 2025. The resource person for this session was Mrs. Urmila Samant, founder of Rajrajeshwari Mahila Bachat Gat or Self Help Group (SHG)in Dombivli. She has also mentored several groups of women to organise themselves into Self – Help Groups. Mrs. Samant shared her experience and insights on the concept of Self Help Groups, emphasizing their importance in promoting entrepreneurship and financial independence.
The purpose of the expert session organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of our college was to enlighten students about the role of Self Help Groups (SHGs) in promoting entrepreneurship and empowerment among women. The session aimed to provide insights into the concept of SHGs and their impact on economic independence and community support.
Outcome: The session proved to be highly informative and engaging. Mrs. Samant shared her experiences and insights, emphasizing the importance of SHGs in promoting economic empowerment by providing access to credit and resources. She highlighted the significance of collective effort and mutual support within SHGs, showcasing how a sense of community and shared responsibility has been pivotal in overcoming obstacles and achieving success. The interactive Q&A segment saw active participation from students, where Mrs. Samant addressed various queries related to SHG formation, management, and their impact on people’s lives.

Name of the event: Study Tour to Business Jatra, Thane
Date: 3rd January, 2025
Venue: Tip Top Plaza, Thane
On 3rd January 2025, the Entrepreneurship Development Cell organized a study tour to Business Jatra, Thane. This initiative aimed to provide students with firsthand exposure to the thriving world of businesses and MSMEs (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises). A total of 55 students participated in this enriching experience, comprising 27 boys and 28 girls. The event featured several stalls of unique businesses, offering a diverse range of products and services.
Objective: The primary objective of the study tour was to enhance learners’ understanding of MSMEs and their unique ventures and business models. It aimed to foster networking opportunities with business owners and industry professionals. Additionally, the tour sought to inspire students with innovative business ideas and entrepreneurial opportunities, encouraging them to think creatively and explore new ventures.
OutcomeStudents had the opportunity to explore various unique businesses, interact with the business owners, thus gaining valuable insights into different products and services. The experience was a breeding ground for innovative ideas, as students were inspired by the diverse range of business models they encountered. The tour ultimately instilled a heightened sense of motivation and enthusiasm among students, fuelling their desire to embark on entrepreneurial endeavours.

Name of the event: Short Term Basic Mehndi Course
Date: 20th August, 2024 to 26th August, 2024
Venue: The S.I.A College of Higher Education
Purpose of the Session : A 10 hours’ short term ‘Basic Mehndi Course’ was conducted by Entrepreneurship Development Cell in collaboration with Women Development Cell of The S.I.A. College of Higher Education from 20th August, 2024 to 26th August, 2024. The skill development course aimed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to create intricate and beautiful Mehndi designs, while also fostering entrepreneurial spirit among the students. A total of 31 girls enrolled in the program. The resource persons for the course were Ms. Krisha Sanjay Savla and Ms. Anshika Jayprakash Yadav.
Outcome: The short-term course on Mehndi making was a resounding success, providing students with valuable skills, entrepreneurial knowledge, and a platform to express their creativity. The Entrepreneurship Development Cell plans to continue offering such courses to nurture the talents and aspirations of students.

Name of the event: Start-up Sparks- Stepping into Entrepreneurship
Date: 7th December, 2024.
Venue: The S.I.A College of Higher Education
A one day ideation workshop, ‘Start-up Sparks- Stepping into Entrepreneurship’ was organised by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of the College on 7th December, 2024. The resource person for the session was Mr. Aniket Shivaji Patil from Naman Angels organization. His extensive experience in Naman Angels supporting startups and fostering innovation made him an ideal choice for this workshop.
Objective- The primary objective of this workshop was to stimulate creative thinking and generate innovative business ideas among students. It aimed to provide a platform for students from all disciplines to brainstorm unique concepts that could be transformed into viable business ventures.
Outcome- The 3-hour ideation workshop commenced with an introduction by Mr. Patil, emphasizing the importance of creative thinking and innovation in entrepreneurship. Mr. Patil discussed how creativity is the cornerstone of successful business strategies, and how thinking outside the box can lead to groundbreaking ideas with the help of several examples. The students were encouraged to brainstorm and share diverse business ideas. The workshop successfully stimulated creative thinking, resulting in several innovative business ideas. Students gained valuable insights into ideation and concept development, leaving them inspired to pursue and refine their ideas further. Overall, the workshop was a resounding success, achieving its objective of fostering creativity and innovation among students.
